What’s the difference between a modular and a permanent school building?

Our outdoor classrooms are ideal for part-time use, small groups or interventions. Permanent buildings are fully compliant with Building Control standards, meaning they can be used as standard classrooms or long-term facilities for full-time teaching.

Are your school buildings energy efficient?

Our school buildings can achieve EPC A ratings, with energy-efficient construction, SBEM-tested performance, and optional solar integration, helping reduce running costs and environmental impact.

Do I need Building Regulations approval for my school cabin?

It depends on both the size as well as how the building will be used. Our outdoor classrooms, perfect as support spaces such as for nurture or ELSA, are built to high safety and quality standards and usually don’t require formal Building Regulations approval.

For projects where the cabin will be permanent, full-time educational accommodation or are larger in size, we offer Building Regulations–compliant buildings. In these cases, we manage the approval process with building control and engineers, ensuring the space meets all fire, structural, energy, and accessibility requirements.

Do permanent school buildings require planning permission?

Many schools benefit from permitted development rights (PDR), meaning smaller buildings within existing school grounds can sometimes be installed without a full planning application.

However, permanent buildings designed for full-time teaching use usually need some level of planning consent or prior approval. Our team can advise on what applies to your project and provide detailed plans and specifications to support the process.
